My Winter Blog
Making different choices in eating is something we need to look at as part of our spiritual journey. It is more than food, eating is ritual and food is the most pure form of energy. If you think of food as a spiritual energy source that is not only feeding your body but your soul than you have a different resonance with food and food becomes your healing, your joy your pleasure instead of a way that you anesthetize yourself and run away from your feelings or beat yourself up. Learn about who you really are by connecting with your meals in a sensual and personal way. This is how I look at food now and the result is that I am beginning to find a softness in myself by having a relaxation with my food. For me it is no longer just nutrition. My problem in the past has been too much emphasis on the benefits of eating well and never the joy and pleasure. Many have to make healthier choices not eat more junk but no matter what your personal relationship is with food if you begin to get soft quiet and respectful of it you actually begin to experience food in a more beautiful way. When this attitude comes into play it serves you BEST on every level. Meaning the food actually is given permission to love you and heal you. Enjoying and experiencing what you eat by eating the least processed and most simple food will change your relationship with food and it becomes your friend. This is the relationship that listens to your body and your body listens to you and your food resonates with that dialogue.
It takes planning and often it seems like just another thing that is going to make your life more complicated. But I think one reason our lives are so stressed and complicated is because we have given up the very ritual of meals that have in the past given us solace and peace. Making a family or solitary meal, taking time to sit down for breakfast with our self or our kids before we run out the door this is what makes a person aware of what is happening in their life. These are rituals that keep us connected to the world and ourselves. The majority of our population is losing track of this most important part of life. I am on a mission to bring back the desire to sit down and engage with the ones we love doing something we love to do and that is eat.
Eat well by eating real food that is the goal. I truly believe that whether you are suffering from being overweight over stimulated or overstressed just bringing yourself back to what is a constant like the custom of preparation and satiation of food will be the very thing that gets you to a great place of balance. You will be healthier by making time for your family meals. Slowing your life down in a conscious way GIVES YOU TIME. It sounds contradictory but actually it is absolutely what you want to do with your life. Plan your life so that you can prepare something real that you yourself have chosen from the market and sit down with it quietly or be with someone, and enjoy the taste of your food. It is so simple and yet we absolutely do not do it. We underestimate the power of being present with our eating as the very thing that will make it easier to be healthy in our body and mind. When you shovel and run with food especially bad food it goes into your body without purpose and it goes into your body void of love not to mention the benefits of it have been lost. The body thinks you are in a panic and it stores the food usually as fat because shoveled food tends to be sugar foods. We have the power within ourselves to create an environment of healing with food. Understand the importance of this when you are searching desperately to be healthy. You ARE healthy you can feel healthy by being aware of what you are doing. Have faith in yourself and trust your inner guide to tell you how to do it and what is right for you. Anything that I write about is not law it is to inspire you to be the best and most healthy person for YOU. This is what I have done through my own experience. Through a lifetime of dieting food fads & starving or trying to be like others, I was trying to survive. It served me in the past but it serves me no longer.
Now I will get to the more cheerleader aspect of eating well… with the new attitude that I just wrote about.
I know life is hectic and there are times when you can’t get a cold piece of chicken and some nuts and a piece of fruit in a bag like you do for your kids because frankly life is stressful. So you are on the run and you are hungry at your lunch break and you have less than an hour to find food… fast so what do you do? Well first of all do some research in your area find where there is a GREAT market that has a salad bar and buy some fresh slices of deli meat that has the least amount of weird flavoring and looks most like the animal it came from and buy some raw nuts or seeds or even get a sandwich on whole grain bread for a change…make a different choice today…
Don’t think I don’t understand that there are just days when your pal says lets go to Carl’s junior and hell you can’t say no and you know it will be fast… for one thing if you do it occasionally it is not so bad but making fast food your regular diet regime is something you may want to reconsider. Make fast food a treat not a regular daily habit. Let’s say you do have a hamburger, why not get a NO BUN burger and have a salad with it and use mustard instead of a sugar filled dressing that you usually slather on your salad to hide the lettuce. You also may have a few fries and that is fine too, but this time share your fries with your friend and choose mustard for the dipping instead of Catsup.
Okay the truth is you know what to do to eat well, there is just too much info around not to know, and consider this when you eat anything; that what you put into your body has the same effect that taking an aspirin or advil or even an over the counter drug has on your body…we forget the power that food has in our system. If you can take an advil, let’s say, just think how amazing it is that several minutes later your pain is relieved. Yet we rarely think about our food having the same effect on our system. IT DOES. Everything we ingest has the ability to heal or hinder our health. You may not recognize it right at first but eventually the detrimental effects of poor food choices take their toll on your body your energy your ability to be a spouse a parent a friend and a worker. You feel beaten by your life and worn out so you drink heaps of coffee to get through your day and even that is not enough it has to be filled with sugar so that at least you feel pleasure from it. The worst part is the dip you feel afterwards. You dive into a lull of exhaustion that leaves you worse off than you were before, and this cycle continues day in and day out and we don’t realize that we could make a difference in the way we feel just by making different choices.
One new choice that you can make that may make making better choices easier right now is HEALTHY CURB. I am the new spokesperson for it but the only reason is because I think it can actually help you make better choices and move into a softer and more healthy attitude towards food. Healthy Curb is a food supplement product that blocks the starch that turns to sugar and causes problems in your energy, your weight etc. Everyone wants to have a lean body and sugar is not helping you reach your perfect body that you are designed to have. Fat is not the culprit (GOOD FAT IS GREAT FOOD) in our diets it’s processed carbohydrates and sugar and that is just the simple science. I don’t tell people never to eat sugar I just say think about the choices you make. Ask yourself how often you eat junk and why you even eat it at all. Healthy Curb is a jump-start to your metabolism. Just take two tablets 20 minutes before you eat before every meal and you can block the effects of the starch/sugar that you ingest. Healthy Curb is an amazing gift because again it is not a diet pill, I seriously would not endorse any product that was not food based. It is a supplement that actually builds your cell walls providing you with more energy while, take this in, curbing your appetite for bad food. From my experience and that of my husband’s it makes the wrong foods unappealing. It is safe… no caffeine no stimulants & no herbs. I am NOT a believer in diets or diet pills…they simply do not work and make you gain more weight when you quit than when you started. Not to mention they set you up to fail. I am all about setting you up to win in your life by eating REAL food and enjoying your life by slowing it down and tasting the pleasures of what real food tastes like… I would love for those of you that are having a hard time with weight to try this product because of the benefits of it guiding you towards making better choices. I get so much mail from people in need of help so follow the guidelines of food in my book and if you need that extra help try Healthy Curb.
